First Senate meeting of KAHS

The first senate meeting of Karnali Academy of Health Sciences, Jumla, was held on 24th December, 2012, under the chairmanship of Rt. Honorable Prime-Minister and Chancellor Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and in the presence of Honorable minister for health and Population and Pro Chancellor Mr. Rajendra Mahato.

The meeting has approved the five years plan consisting of infrastructure development, service extension, launching academic programmes, financial policy and regulation, personal policy and regulation and the regulation for the KAHS authorities. The meeting also approved the proposal for running PCL nursing programme from this academic session and principally agreed for initiating the activities for running different courses in the future like; MBBS, Health Assistant, Laboratory Technology, Operation theatre technician, Bachelor of public health, PCL Midwifery, Bachelor of nursing and PCL radiography. Student rules, regulations as well as nursing student admission policy were also approved in the meeting.

The Secretaries for finance, education, health and population and the LDO of Jumla district attended the meeting as senators. Various other national figures including Dr Damodar Gajurel, chairman, Nepal medical council, Ms Daya Laxmi Baidhya, chairman, Nepal nursing council, attended the meeting as invitees.

Rt. Honorable Prime-Minister and Chancellor Dr. Baburam Bhattarai expressed that KAHS has been established with the expectation that it will contribute in the development of health service and health education in the backward area. He further stated that the approved proposals need to be applied practically and the government of Nepal is always positive towards contributing for their implementation. He also thanked for all senators for making the meeting success.
